Beneficial Owner Reclaim Services

As the end-recipient of cross-border investment income (a “beneficial owner”) it is likely that an investor is entitled to reclaim some or all of the tax withheld on such income. These funds are usually available for reclaim for a set period, called the Statute of Limitations, which varies by tax jurisdiction and treaty. As a result, investors who have not engaged in tax reclamation in the past often receive a “windfall” benefit, as they may be entitled to multiple years of retroactive recovery. However, if the beneficial owner does not apply to reclaim these entitled funds within the Statute of Limitations period, the entitlement benefit is lost forever.

Most beneficial owners do not have the knowledge or processing infrastructure required to identify potential entitlements and successfully reclaim over-withheld tax on their own. GlobeTax monitors portfolio income and identifies all potential entitlements. On an ongoing basis, GlobeTax compiles and maintains all necessary documentation, prepares and files reclaim applications on our clients’ behalf. GlobeTax carefully guides each application through the necessary channels, ultimately crediting reclaimed funds directly to the beneficial owner’s account.

GlobeTax supports beneficial owners in over 40 countries worldwide. We file over two million reclaims a year on behalf of our clients, working in all available recovery markets.
